CARS AND COFFEE : IRVINE PHOTOS

I hope everyone had a great Turkey day with their friends and family! Helen and I ended up cooking for the first time ever together. I guess all of those years of watching my older brother and mom cook on Thanksgiving paid off! In addition to eating, napping, shopping and lots of leftovers this past few days, I also joined some friends at Cars and Coffee in Irvine on Saturday. It’s a place for all the car nuts to meet on Saturday morning and it was early. 7 AM early to be exact. I’m not normally a morning person, but to see some nice rare cars and drink my beloved java, I’m there! As you can see, here are some of my favorite rides. I’m all for classics and exotics! Happy Monday!

LA FLEA MARKET

Are you curious what I do on my weekends off? That’s easy, I go digging for junk! Well kinda. I’m a huge HGTV fan and home decor is my favorite past time. I’ve been hearing rumors of these huge flea markets full of all kinds of antiques, but never was adventurous enough to go find one, until last weekend. Me and the usual suspects, headed to LA on Sunday to have a nice breakfast by the beach. Patrick’s Road House to be exact. If you haven’t been, you need to go! After we fed ourselves into food commas, we headed to an LA Flea Market digging for junk. It really reminded me of the stuff we found in our garage, when we first moved to our new home back in the 80’s. I guess it’s true what they say, “One man’s junk, is another man’s treasure”. Helen and I ended up buying an antique wood looking boat centerpiece. We still have no idea what to do with it, but we like it.

Here’s a photo of me and Helen at the flea market on Sunday. It’s been awhile since we posted any personal photos of ourselves. This was taken with my old Canon AE-1 film camera and so are the rest of the photos in the gallery below. Have a great “Thanksgiving” everyone!

FEATURED : HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTESS

When Raffaella turned 1, I knew that Kay, her mom, would put together a charming and well thought out party and I was right. So much so, that her thoughtful ideas were featured on Hostess With The Mostess. I had so much fun photographing this event, that if anyone else out there is going to have details like this at their child’s first birthday, then please please please contact me! SHIRLEY AND TUNG : GETTY VILLA MALIBU ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS

This past weekend, I photographed Shirley and Tung at The Getty Villa in Malibu. It was a perfect day for an engagement session and I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding next month! We had such gorgeous light all day there and here are some photos to prove it!

FEATURED : GREENWICH MAGAZINE

I was and I’m still excited when Michael and Stacey told me that their wedding was featured in Greenwich Magazine! I was eagerly awaiting the issue and when it arrived the other day, the only thing I’m sad about is that they miss spelled my last name as “Chang” instead of “Khang”. But it’s happened before from another publication, so I’m used to it. Either way, I’m excited to see my photos in print! Happy Monday!

[B] SCHOOL DAY TRIPPIN’ : LAGUNA BEACH

Today, I felt like I needed to get out and get some fresh air and apparently, I wasn’t the only one. I joined a bunch of photographers down in Laguna Beach, who are all a part of the [b] school, to stretch our legs a bit and snap fun and random photos. Here is some randomness that I photographed. If you haven’t joined the [b] school yet, what are you waiting for? Come and join this awesome community! Special thanks to Joe Photo, for always organizing the day trippin’ days!

PAPETERIE : STUDIO OPENING

Papeterie just celebrated their grand opening this past week and I was waiting months to finally step foot into their wonderful new studio! If you haven’t heard of Papeterie, then I don’t know where you’ve been! I mean anyone that does invitations for Jessica Alba, is ok in my book!

At first, I meant to attend as a guest, but when Kim the owner of Papeterie asked me to photograph the event, I was more than happy to do so. Besides, nothing was really different for me. I still got to hangout with friends, meet new people, take photos of them and be spoiled by the wonderful Hawaiian food and desserts from Cakes By The Pound. Patrick, Kim’s husband, also gave us a demonstration on how the letter press works and gave a chance for anyone that wanted to try it out.

Here are just a few photos and details from the amazing night.

Ok I had to have at least one photo of myself from the night.
