BRYCEN’S 1ST BIRTHDAY

It seems like ages since I’ve last blogged and so much has been going on this busy 2011 year. But I’m dedicating this post to some personal things going on in my life. One being that my friend Scott and his wife Tammy have a cute baby boy named Brycen that just turned 1. Scott and I go way back, way way back. Our families were all close and we all grew up together as kids. I was trying to find an embarrassing photo of us, but sadly I couldn’t find one. Anyhow, I was excited to be there in Connecticut celebrating Brycen’s 1st birthday and I decided to bring my new toy, the Contax 645 and some film. You’ve probably heard others say how amazing medium format film is and I understand why now. The colors from film are just so incredible, not to mention that I just love the crop more. Here are some photos that I shot all on film with my Contax 645, Kodak Portra 400 and Fuji 400h, developed and scanned at Richard Photo Lab. You’ll also notice some photos of my adorable niece Hayden, napping like her uncle Brian.

WISH UPON A WEDDING : SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LAUNCH PARTY

Last week, Wish Upon A Wedding, the first ever nonprofit wedding wish foundation, The Southern California Chapter, held it’s launch party at the beautiful Seven Degrees in Laguna Beach, CA. I was extremely honored to document such an important evening, to help raise awareness for such an important cause. It was so moving to see hundreds of wedding professionals gather that night. There are over 20 chapters of WUAW started already all over the nation and more are expected.

I’ve waited my whole career for a cause like this, where I’m able to donate my services to a needy couple. And I’m excited that Wish Upon A Wedding started something so amazing!

JACOB AND SOPHIA : BAPTISM PHOTOS

What I’m hoping for in the future, is to have little ones of my own. I couldn’t even imagine how amazing it would be to have fraternal twins. In Maisa’s case, that’s exactly what she had. Two beautiful fraternal twins named Jacob and Sophia. When she contacted me about photographing her twins baptism at Saints Simon & Jude Church in Huntington Beach, a lot of questions ran through my mind. For one, I’ve been to and seen a baptism before, but never photographed one. So it was a new experience for me, but I would definitely do it again. PAPETERIE : STUDIO OPENING

Papeterie just celebrated their grand opening this past week and I was waiting months to finally step foot into their wonderful new studio! If you haven’t heard of Papeterie, then I don’t know where you’ve been! I mean anyone that does invitations for Jessica Alba, is ok in my book!

At first, I meant to attend as a guest, but when Kim the owner of Papeterie asked me to photograph the event, I was more than happy to do so. Besides, nothing was really different for me. I still got to hangout with friends, meet new people, take photos of them and be spoiled by the wonderful Hawaiian food and desserts from Cakes By The Pound. Patrick, Kim’s husband, also gave us a demonstration on how the letter press works and gave a chance for anyone that wanted to try it out.

RAFFAELLA’S 1ST BIRTHDAY : CHARMING BACKYARD BIRTHDAY PARTY PHOTOS

Last weekend, our good friends Steve and Kay’s daughter Raffaella, turned 1. I can’t believe it’s been a year! As usual, Kay or as we would like to call her the Martha Stewart of Torrance, did an amazing job on the details. It was such a charming backyard birthday party. Just the closest of friends and family were there to celebrate. And this was the first time I have ever witnessed a 1 year old, not terrorize the birthday cake. Steve and Kay had to put Raffaella’s hands in the cake, for her to warm up to it. But it was such a fun time! Here are some of the fun details and photos from the party.
