FAQ : ENGAGEMENT SESSION

I often get asked by my clients, what is an engagement session and more importantly what is my approach to it. And that is why I have made a short clip about the engagement session, to help answer some of those questions.

What I want to add also which I didn’t mention in the short clip, is that it’s a great chance for us to get to know each other better. And that’s really important because come day of your wedding, you’ll know what to expect and not to mention you’ll be more comfortable in front of the camera. What I want to give my clients, is a sense that a friend is shooting photos for them. Just a day to cut loose, have fun and be your selfs. At the same time finding that great lighting and making some beautiful photos.

I want to give a special thanks to Vinh & Janet for being such a fun loving couple! Click HERE if you would like to see more photos from their session. Feel free also to leave me comments or questions.

Chung Nguyen - Love the video. It’s at the perfect length! (My attention span is shot thanks to Youtube….)

Mark Hayes - That’s a great idea. Love the video and the message for your clients there.

Paula Herko - love the video… great idea!

Joanna Garcia - Hey Brian! Fantastic as always. What do you use to record your videos? And for the video below where you using a mic?

Brian Khang - Hi Joanna, thanks and I’m just using my Canon G7 point and shoot in 1024 resolution to record my videos. I keep it nice and simple. And no mic.

vinh & janet - Oh WOW. We were curious to see what gorgeous new weddings you’ve shot lately and what do find but a video of us on the front page! Haha!

So it’s been 4 months since the wedding and we’re still remembering how much fun we had with you and Helen! You guys absolutely rock!

P.S. Yes, the engagement session definitely helped us to get to know you and to feel much more relaxed on the big day (at the very least Vinh learned where and where not to put his hands).

Thanks again!

Jasmine* - Great video, Brian! You’re rocking it out! :)

Stephen - Awesome video Brian! Do you have any tips on working with really shy couples who might not be as open to PDA in public?

Brian Khang - Stephen yes I have some tips on that. Don’t have them make out in public! :) If that’s the kind of shots you want, find a quiet place with no one around, with great lighting and make them feel comfortable as possible. It’s really up the your clients. I usually ask them how they feel about it before we start shooting and go from there.

Ryan - Thanks for sharing this. I love your work

jenberry - thanks for sharing brian. i have my first engagement shoot in march and i’m very nervous to direct adults.
