As I paced the bright wooden tables and nearly blinded by the bright lights, loud noise from people in the store and uncontrollable sweat that I feel, starting to drip down the side of my face, I reached for my wallet, nearly fumbling it from my sweaty hands and slowly approached the man in the blue shirt. I somehow felt like I was Bill Murray stuck in “Groundhog Day”, because I’m pretty sure I’ve done the same thing several times before. Just when I nearly reached him and ready to shout, “I’ll take one please!”, my voice of reason and I’ll call her Helen, slowly whispered in my ear, “Let’s wait on this. There’s always going to be a better one that comes out! Hehe.” And like “King Kong”, flailing my arms to my chest, in my mind, I calmed down, listened to my voice of reason, Helen and I turned around feeling dizzy from spinning around to quickly and walked out.
It’s now Friday, the evening before my birthday. Helen and I had a lovely dinner, which means I ordered 1 of almost everything from the menu. We came back home and I nearly dropped to the couch from the food coma I was enduring and exhaustion from the day. As midnight soon approached, I slowly opened my eyes at 12:15AM and found that I was by myself and the house was eerily quiet. Before I could stand up and stretch, Helen storms down the stairs with a big grin on her face and says, “Happy Birthday Babe!.” I had completely forgotten that it was already my birthday. She stood there, gave me the biggest hug, her eyes still smiling and handed me a gift from behind her back. I had my suspicions on my gift, but I didn’t want to guess, not wanting to disappoint myself. I slowly removed the tissue paper surrounding this heavy gift, handed to me in a gift bag. I was mumbling something to Helen which I don’t recall and thinking, “Could this be?”.
As you all know from my updates, Helen surprised me with an iPad for my birthday and it hasn’t left my sight or my hands since I got it. This morning, while checking out the app store, to my surprise, I found that WordPress made an app for the iPad. Excitingly so, I decided to post my first blog post, from my iPad.
I will be perfectly honest. At first I was a bit skeptical or even thinking, how can I use this or do I really need this? And after having it for only 4 days now, I can already see after the first day really, how valuable it is.
Think about a device somewhere between your iPhone and laptop. It’s more ideal I think for everyday use. Because sometimes surfing the web on the iPhone screen is a bit annoying given the size, especially if you need to type a lengthy email and at the same time the laptop is a bit heavier and bulkier to carry around. And the fashionable Brian Khang is now thinking what kind of messenger bag to get, to carry around all of my devices and still look stylish? I’ll have a future blog post about this for sure!
If you’re an iPad owner already and you don’t have Zinio yet, you just have to download it and check it out. It’s a free app, but the magazine subscriptions are at an additional cost, but it sure is inexpensive. It’s still so amazing to carry around years of magazines in one device and I’m sure there’s going to be so much more advancements for the iPad and apps. Did I mention that the games and watching movies are amazing? Yup I said it, so what? I will continue to conquer my blogging world now with iPad in hand!
