I remember when I was 5 years old, running through the grass at my old elementary school. The sound of the wind whooshing by my ears, as I was running as fast as I could like a Transformer. I would run until I just collapsed on the grass from exhaustion at recess. I would lay there as I caught my breath, hearing my heart pounding like a drum. I would feel and smell the moist cut grass around me and I would just look up at the clouds, thinking about how that cloud looks likes like a pig.
It’s funny how somethings have changed now that I’m older. Now when I lay in a field, I always think to myself, “Maybe I shouldn’t be laying in this field filled with who knows what, with allergies to pollen and a fear of snakes, but just the other day, I did anyways and I said, “Who cares.”
As I was laying in this field the other day, with the winds barely brushing my forehead and as I was gazing up at the blue skies, watching the clouds slowly move by and trying not to focus on the yellow flowers above me, it brought me back to my childhood and made me think again. Not about how the clouds looked like something familiar to me, but thinking about my life since I’ve been born, my childhood memories and where my life is heading.
Maybe all of this thinking was brought on because this past weekend, I celebrated my 13th birthday, backwards and I couldn’t help but wondering, when you get older, is it all really downhill from there? or uphill? I still think it’s all uphill. Yes, maybe we all appear older, but I’ve never felt younger or more wiser in my life and I know every year on my birthday, I always feel the same way. Maybe I have no clue on where my life is headed, but for now, I can only live in the moment and feel like the luckiest guy in the world, to have such amazing friends and family, who in one way or another, celebrated with me feeling younger and wiser. Cheers everyone!

Checkout my dad in this old family photo. I am nearly the same age as him in this photo and I’m starting to see how I look more and more like him every year. Yes, that’s me on his lap too.
THE FIELDS OF THOUGHT
HOOP DREAMS WAS ONLY A DREAM
“He fakes left and looses his defender. They throw Brian the ball with only 5 seconds on the clock with their team down by 3 points. And here it is.. 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. at the buzzer… And he makes it! He makes it!!! And the crowd is going crazy!!”
I can’t even count the many times I replayed this moment growing up playing basketball. It was a life time dream of mine to play in the NBA and actually get to do this move that I practiced in my drive way, over and over again. But then reality threw a basketball at my head and I realized that I wasn’t talented enough or tall enough to play professionally. I pretty much dedicated most of my childhood and adulthood, just to refine the craft of playing basketball. Growing up, we would play in the rain even if the basketball wouldn’t dribble in the puddles or shovel the drive way, just to get in a few shots. We even played when it was freezing out and raining and in that case, we had a bucket of hot water at the ready to warm up our freezing hands.
Looking back on it, I sure was living this hoop dream. And it’s funny how things have changed for me. I look at basketball now as a way to get exercise. It must be because I’m getting older! But still, even up to this day, you’ll see me at the basketball courts all by myself, still practicing this move. 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1!!
Checkout my new basketball shoes! Even if I play bad one day, at least I’ll look good, playing bad!

JACKIE AND BRIAN : THE REEF AVIA HOTEL LONG BEACH WEDDING PHOTOS
I will be honest and possibly cliche to say, that as a photographer, we always feel this sense of honor to be chosen to document a couples marriage. And to be a part of Jackie and Brian’s Vietnamese Engagement Ceremony over a year ago, Engagement Session and now their Wedding Day, I’m truly speechless. Not just to be on this journey with them, but to just see how truly amazing these two are and how monumental their relationship is. If you’re also wondering why they look like they’re in such great shape, it’s because they both share the love of running. So much so, that I always here about them training for marathons! Jackie and Brian met over 12 years ago and believe it or not, just recently, Brian finally told Jackie how he truly felt and decided to propose to her shortly after. Their wedding was so thoughtful in details, like the photo of Brian’s late father who was a CEO of an airline company and what the main focus of their engagement ceremony and wedding, was family. They even started the evening with the father daughter dance, rather than the first dance. I know the bond between Jackie and her father is something really special. Jackie and Brian, you’re amazing! There’s nothing more that I can say but that. It was truly truly an amazing day and thank you for letting us be a part of it!

WISH UPON A WEDDING : SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LAUNCH PARTY
Last week, Wish Upon A Wedding, the first ever nonprofit wedding wish foundation, The Southern California Chapter, held it’s launch party at the beautiful Seven Degrees in Laguna Beach, CA. I was extremely honored to document such an important evening, to help raise awareness for such an important cause. It was so moving to see hundreds of wedding professionals gather that night. There are over 20 chapters of WUAW started already all over the nation and more are expected.
If you weren’t able to attend this event, there are still ways to help out. Click HERE to see how. You can also follow Wish Upon A Wedding on Facebook and Twitter too!
I’ve waited my whole career for a cause like this, where I’m able to donate my services to a needy couple. And I’m excited that Wish Upon A Wedding started something so amazing!
Here a lot of photos from the night. I didn’t want to leave any details out, because so many incredible vendors took part in this evening.

GREG AND NICOLETTE : SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO ENGAGEMENT
If it’s one thing that I admire about Greg and Nicolette, is their ability to just have fun with each other. It’s usually all that I ask for during these engagement sessions and boy did they do it in style! We had a fun time running around the streets of San Juan Capistrano and then to a quiet field in Orange County. They also brought their daughter to the end of the shoot which I thought was a great idea! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding next month! And don’t forget to click on the link below the photos to see more!
