Today while cleaning out my closet, I found a bunch of flash modifiers that I used in the past. I’m sure I’m not the only one that has tried a few different kinds, but I’m curious on what everyone is using now? So to help answer that question, I created a little poll below. Go ahead and vote, it’s anonymous and I’m just trying to find out what other pros and non-pros are using. I’m currently using the FLIP-IT. This will be interesting! Oh and you can vote more than once, since I know some people like to do multiple things.

serena - I’ve tried all of those, but I like the Flip-It the best. Great price, folds flat for easy storage, fits on any flash. And I feel like the lighting is more consistent when I’m shooting landscape or portrait. When I’m shooting portrait with a Stofen, sometimes the bottom of the picture is dark (maybe I’m using it wrong?). Had a Lightsphere for my 430EX, but it doesn’t fit on my 580′s. Plus it was hard to put on my flash, always fell off, and takes up a good amount of space in my bag. I know the new design attaches better, but I don’t feel like shelling out the money to get a new one.
What’s been your experience?
Brian Khang - Hi Serena, I’m with you on all of that. The Flip-It has worked out great! Depending on the location, I’ll either us that or just bounce my flash. The Flip-It is awesome for shooting outdoor ceremonies or events too.
Alfred - Hey Brian, I still have all of those and the newest is the Flip-It (about a month) and I’m liking it more and more. Before that I was just bouncing which worked out well but I can see an improvement with the Flip-It. I’ve found the Fong LS works pretty good in small spaces like bedrooms or hotel rooms but I had that with my 430EX also and don’t feel like shelling out the money on one for the 580EX!
Stephen - I’ve been using my GF Light Sphere and Whale Tails for about two years, but have recently gone back to just bouncing. The Fong domes produces great results (if you are close) but found that they get quite bulky and can get in the way when you are carrying two bodies with flashes.
Matthew Saville - I had to vote for the Lightsphere because that’s what I use most, even though I REALLY just bounce *most* of the time…
I use the Ligtsphere because it is the only modifier that allows you to shoot horizontally in either direction and still get the thing facing forward. (Well the Sto-fen doesn’t count cuz it’s too tiny to really spread the flash enough for me.
See ya ’round, Brian!

Brian Khang - It looks like most people bounce their flash, followed by the “Light Sphere” This is interesting.
adam @ shutterspeedster - I’ve never heard of flip-it before, but it looks perfect. Those lightsphere’s are just too big.
Peter Gregg - The ABBC is called A Better Bounce Card. The newest one is called The Ultimate Bounce Card of the same web address.
Jenny Hsieh - My Lightsphere falls off of my 580 ex II every 5 mins… it was terrible. But I love it when it worked =). My alternative is the flip-it. Though the light isn’t a soft as the light sphere, I was able to capture moments much easier with the flip it. Flip it ++!!
