The day before the wedding, we ventured out to Yale University, where the wedding in Connecticut was going to be held. I have to say that I’m in love with New Haven and the Yale University campus. The architecture and history there is amazing! The only thing that I was sad about, was that Louis’ Lunch was closed for the month. They are where the first hamburger was created! Even living in Connecticut all of those years, I still haven’t tried it. I guess fate wasn’t on my side on this trip, but I’m sure I’ll be back to give it a try!

FILM : THE MANSIONS AT NEWPORT, RI

At the end of our trip to Newport, RI, we heard through the grapevine, that when you visit here, you just have to checkout the mansions. So the first thing that came to mind was, google it, because we had no idea where it was. Not realizing that it was literally down the street from where we parked! So we headed down to checkout what everyone was talking about and I must say, although it was at the end of the day and we couldn’t really get the full tour, the area with all the mansions was pretty impressive! Some mansions were still occupied to this day too! Which must be strange now that I think about it, to have random strangers take pictures of your house. But I’m sure they’re used to it by now.

FILM AND DIGITAL HAPPILY EVER AFTER

Well in my life it is. As you all know, I’m mainly a digital photographer. It’s been my tool since I started professionally as a photographer. I love digital for the ability to just shoot, shoot, shoot! and to instantly see what you are shooting. Not to mention that you don’t need to change film depending on the speed that you need or to decide if you want to shoot black and white or color photos. So many excellent things can be said about digital and not to many negatives.

Film for me though, has always been about a certain look. There’s just this unexplained thing about film, that’s there and can’t be replicated digitally. I know that first hand, because I’ve tried countless times with no success. So I said, why try to replicate it, when I can just shoot film! So I’ve been on a mad hunt lately picking up film camera bodies that looked semi familiar to me, from the photographers that used them at the weddings I’ve attended as a teenager.

I’m not saying that I am going to totally switch to film or that digital is all that I use, truth be told is that I love both. And hopefully sooner than later, film and digital in my professional life, will meet at the crossroads of photo making, so stay tuned!
