ERIC AND JESS : SUMMIT HOUSE FULLERTON CALIFORNIA WEDDING

You all might have remembered Eric and Jess from their engagement session that I photographed in Pasadena, CA a few months back. Well, they were recently married at The Summit House in Fullerton, CA. Eric and Jess are two of the most genuine and fun people that I have ever met. Their day was filled with so much laughter and lovely DIY details! Not to mention, their friends and family didn’t waste a single minute of the wedding not dancing! You gotta love a group of people that knows how to have fun! Eric and Jess, congratulations again!

NICOLETTE AND GREG : ARROYO TRABUCO MISSION VIEJO WEDDING PHOTOS

Nicolette and Greg were recently married at the beautiful Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo. They’ve become great friends of ours from the time that we met with them over a year ago and randomly bumped into them at malls all over Orange County. Nicolette and Greg’s wedding was filled with so many amazing details, which were all designed and planned by them, including the “Green Paper Lanterns” that hung over the dance floor, to the fun treat for their guests with the live Hawaiian dancers, with the most amazingly talented kids and the bright and beautiful sparkler send off, which I thought for sure that something would catch on fire! The getaway car custom designed by Nicolette and Greg’s friends was definitely the icing on the cake! It made me and everyone else laugh!

You’ll have to checkout the link below to see more photos from their wedding and the getaway car! Not to mention how adorable their daughter Leilani is when she danced with her father Greg and stood on his feet. It was the cutest thing!

Nicolette and Greg, congratulations to you both again! As many of your friends that evening couldn’t have stated it better, that for someone your age, you’ve both accomplished so much! And I can see how everyone is so proud of you both! You’re such an amazing couple and we were deeply honored to have photographed your wedding! We hope for more continued happiness in your lives!

RYAN AND SALLY : SAN GABRIEL MISSION LA ARBORETUM WEDDING PHOTOS

Ryan and Sally were married recently, surrounded by their friends and family. Although Ryan knew that there would be traditional door games when he arrived to marry Sally, he had no idea what the bridesmaids had in store for him. Which included, wearing a grass skirt and hula hooping, singing to sally in the street and performing the “Macarena”. And he probably thought the toughest part of the day, was untangling the “Pink Pom-Poms that they decorated the wedding car with, early that morning. But when he finally finished the door games, he was eager to finally see Sally. The ceremony concluded with a traditional “Chinese Tea Ceremony”. Be sure to click on the link below to see more photos from their day!

KATHERINE AND ALVIN : DOVE CANYON COUNTRY CLUB WEDDING

When I saw Katherine that afternoon before the wedding, arriving at the church, wearing her Mrs. King jump suit and with her girls walking behind her laughing away, I just knew it was going to be a perfect day. Katherine and Alvin were married at the beautiful Crossline Church in Laguna Hills and celebrated the night away at the Dove Canyon Country Club. The night began with a choreographed first dance and some special song performances from their friends. As great as those performances were, nothing topped the night more than Alvin’s performance. Instead of singing the song he told Katherine he was going to sing, he decided to sing a song that he wrote for her. Katherine and Alvin, I hope you both had a lovely time on your honeymoon in Maui and thank you again for sharing your amazing day!

CARINA AND SHUI : LOS ANGELES ENGAGEMENT

Their story in their own words…

How they met:

Shui began working with the Social Security Administration (SSA) in September 2003 in Laguna Niguel, CA. At the same exact time, Carina began her journey working for SSA in Inglewood, CA. In May 2007, Carina’s career fortuitously brought her to Mission Viejo, CA; where she met Shui. They sat across the way from each other, and throughout the months, a friendship built. Shui soon found himself a little bit distracted at work. Although thinking he had zero chance, Shui decided to make a move and snag Carina before she knew what hit her!

The proposal:

In June 2009, Carina agreed to come up and visit Shui for a few days while he was up in Richmond, CA for work. Unfamiliar with the Bay area, Shui spent several days before her arrival to research and plan out a special weekend. The first night, they had dinner at a wonderful restaurant in San Francisco, Restaurant Gary Danko. The next night, Shui and Carina set out again in San Francisco. After a quick visit to Coit Tower, they had dinner at a nice little Italian restaurant, Albona. Afterward, they set out for the Palace of Fine Arts. As they roamed the beautiful grounds, the sun began to set. Shui found a secluded area next to the lake with a wonderful view of the Rotunda at sunset. As it was starting to get cold, Shui held Carina tightly as they admired the view. After expressing his feelings of love and hopes for the future, Shui got on his knees and proposed. Carina’s initial response was shock and silence. After a few moments, she said, “Yes!” Later that night, Shui presented Carina with a scrapbook he made that represented memories that built their relationship in the past 15 months.

ANH AND JERRY : LAGUNA BEACH OC NATIONAL PARK ENGAGEMENT

It’s been sometime since my last post, but I’m happy to report that I’m back! Oh and happy Friday! I’m kicking off the weekend early by sharing with you some photos from Anh and Jerry’s engagement session down in Laguna Beach and further south in OC to a National Park. Laguna Beach was our first stop as this was the place where Jerry finally proposed to Anh. I’m always making sure that my clients have locations in mind that are meaningful to them, before just choosing a random location. These two are just so happy together and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding this summer! Oh and Jerry gets bonus points with me, since he’s into cars as much as I am!

KATHERINE AND ALVIN : IRVINE NEWPORT BEACH SANTA ANA ENGAGEMENT SESSION

It’s definitely time to get back to posting again! This one will be a long post, but since I haven’t updated in a while, I’m sure you know it’s expected and I’m sure you don’t mind seeing more photos! Katherine and Alvin are getting married next month in May and I know it’s going to be such a glorious day! Here’s their story in their own words.

“It started as another typical summer day in 2004. Not “typical” in the sense of seasonally induced walks along the beach or pool parties, but typical for Alvin’s summer routine at the time. He was volunteering for the week as a counselor at Camp Footprints, a fun-filled plunge into the world of love for children with disabilities. It was around sunset, when all the campers gathered around for the evening campfire – a time to laugh, sing songs, and just be goofy in general.

As providence would have it, right around this time, Katherine was arriving at the camp site to participate in “night duty”, a term which, by virtue of its name sounds like something derived from the army reserves, really just means people who come up to help put the campers to bed and keep a watchful eye on them for a few hours while the counselors get a much-needed break.

As she sat down toward the back of the crowd to observe the programming in progress, Alvin, who at the moment was leading the group in singing songs with his good friend Khoi, saw the future love of his life through a sea of arm-flinging, jumping, and melody-shouting children. His eyes were fixed on Katherine as she gently took in the frantic scene with an expression on her face that was a mixture of endearment and surprise. Once the campfire portion of the evening had concluded, Alvin went over to Khoi and said “Did you see that beautiful night duty girl sitting in the back?” To which Khoi responded, using words of wisdom which planted the seed that would ultimately change the course of Alvin’s life… “Yeah, you should meet her”.

And that fateful opportunity to meet did come a few nights later, at the end-of-the-week dance, a chance for all the campers to dress up in their best attire and celebrate with a night of fellowship, dancing, and yearbook signing before their return down the hill the next day. It was in the middle of this Camp Footprints dining hall-turned dance floor where Katherine and Alvin had their first meet and greet, which to any bystander at the moment looked like a brief exchange between a very shy girl and an equally nervous boy who was struggling to focus on the conversation over the sounds of both his heart pounding in his chest and the blasting of N-Sync songs in the background.

And thus we arrive at the end of the beginning of how Katherine and Alvin met in the summer of 2004. But the present story detailed here would not lead to an immediate securing of their status as a couple, an occurrence which would in fact not happen until over a year later. Other stories, some amusing in retrospect would emerge at an early point along the journey for these two, such as the bold yet fairly risky act of Alvin searching for Katherine’s email address on UCI’s website in order to contact her two weeks post-camp. Another story would be the discovery that their initial getting-to-know-each-other period would be cut short by the fact that in the coming fall of 2004, Katherine would be traveling to London for one semester to study abroad, during which time communication between both parties would be limited to postcards and emails. Yet another part of the journey would involve the fact that even after Katherine returned to the States to resume her life at UC Irvine, Alvin would be living an hour away in San Diego and would only get to see Katherine a few times during that first year after they met.

Some would consider these stories as obstacles along the road to a relationship that existed solely to create discourse over the possibility of Katherine and Alvin surviving as a couple. Some might even say, taking the metaphor to another level, that these were warning signs along the side of the road suggesting that they turn around and seek a different path. It is the opinion of this author, however, that these apparent obstacles were neither roadblocks nor detour signs, but instead served as speed bumps, an inconvenient but sensible means by which to slow down and to enjoy the scenery of learning about each other’s strengths, weaknesses, and innermost desires, and to proceed safely and comfortably into the eventual journey of how Katherine and Alvin became Katherine and Alvin.

FASHION BRIDAL SHOOT : I

There’s just something so fun about gathering friends together and coming up with an idea for a photo shoot. Before I left for Houston, Quynh, my cousin and model, helped us organize a photo shoot right in Orange County. It ended up being a Bridal shoot in the woods and we somehow detoured into a real “Biker Bar”. But we kept shooting and it ended up being a lot of fun! A special thanks to our models, Quynh Khang, Scott Jemison and Tina Khong. And Vivian Tran from All Made Up, who styled this shoot and did a phenomenal job on the hair and makeup! Don’t forget to click on the link below to see more!
